The latest Sony Blu-ray recorders are ultra-clever. They’ll convert file formats and shovel downloaded video onto Sony PSP and Walkman handhelds, so you’ll be able to watch last night’s TV without the hassle of converting it on PC first, or waiting for it to be released on UMD ever.
Two new Sony Blu-ray recorders, the 500GB Sony BDZ-A950 and 320GB Sony BDZ-A750, hook up to the acTVila video download service, and export purchased video into several formats, including PSP, Walkman, as well as recorded TV to mobile phones for broadcasts without copy protection signals.
And because these Sony Blu-ray recorders support Bravia Link, if you also own a Sony Bravia gogglebox, you’ll only need one remote to control the lot.
Not a bad set up, we think you’ll agree. Pop one of these Sony Blu-ray recorders under your telly, choose your fave show, then watch it on your Sony X Series or PSP whenever and wherever you like.
Unfortunately that’s where the good news ends. The Sony Blu-ray recorders will be available in the land of the Rising Sun from April 24th, but we’ve yet to hear when they’ll hit the UK. Still, it’s a nice bit of integration we’ll welcome over here when Sony sees fit.
