Motorola’s new phone the QA4 Evoke does, erm, evoke something all right. Specifically, it evokes the iPhone, with more than a dash of the Palm Pre.

The Motorola QA4 Evoke is Moto’s latest handset, unveiled just in time for CTIA 2009. The QA4 Evoke has a 2.8 inch touchscreen, sliding keypad and lots of friendly-looking onscreen icons.

It also looks quite a bit like an iPhone if you squint. The sliding keypad and slight curving lip at either end conjures up a bit of Palm Pre too, for our money. Are Motorola trying to grab a share of the ‘confused Nan buying a present for a grandchild’ market? “That was the one you wanted, wasn’t it dear?

Cheekiness aside, the QA4 Evoke isn’t too bad – although somewhat underspecced compared to its inspirations. The phone comes with a ful HTML browser, accelerometer, 2 megapixel camera with MPEG4 video capture (who’s laughing now, eh, Mr iPhone?) and aGPS.
