A 25 year-old man died while playing Wii Fit, the popular Nintendo Wii aerobics game.
Tim Eves, from Hopton-on-Sea in Norfolk, was jogging on the spot while playing Wii Fit when he collapsed in front of his girlfriend Emma Tuck and friend Lewis Hickin, both 25. Paramedics tried to revive him but he was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
Eves had been fit and well but it is possible he was killed by Sudden Adult Death Syndrome while playing Wii Fit. He had spoken to his mother, June Eves, on the phone just minutes before.
“We spoke to him on the phone when he was playing on [Wii Fit]. He told us he had just ordered himself a kebab and was sitting there with a glass of port…but a little while after he had put the phone down, he collapsed for no reason. It was completely out of the blue,” she said.
Norwich Evening News reports that there is nothing to suggest that Eves’ death was caused by playing Wii Fit. A post-mortem has been held but no cause of death has been confirmed.
