MacBook mini vs MacBook nano - which is better?

Spyshots of a MacBook mini, allegedly the long awaited Apple netbook, have leaked online, and while we’re not quite sure they’re legit, they do look lovely.

We’ve put it head to head with our own MacBook nano concept while we wait for Cupertino’s confirmation. Want to know which is better? Read on for the breakdown, plus plenty of pics.

This MacBook mini concept has just been printed in a Russian magazine, and it’s whipped Apple fans into a tizzy: stupendously slim, the MacBook mini is thin like a MacBook Air but with several inches shaved off either end.

Naturally we’re skeptical the MacBook mini is for real – have you ever seen an Apple product leak fully formed to a print magazine before? It’s more likely a delicious mock-up. Still, with more and more rumours about an Apple netbook popping up, it looks likely we’ll see something this year. So how accurate a prediction is the MacBook mini?

Inside the supposed MacBook mini, there’s a 10.4″ screen with a 1,280×768 screen that could handle HD video. There’s also an Atom processor, 2 gigs of RAM, Wi-Fi, a 64GB solid state drive for storage, a USB port and a Mini DisplayPort. How does that stack up against our own MacBook nano dream?

We reckon the Photoshopper behind the MacBook mini is on to something with the ten inch screen and solitary USB slot but that’s where the similarities end. We don’t see how it’s possible for the MacBook mini to be even thinner than the MacBook Air, and MacBook nano branding makes more sense in allowing for something slightly thicker.

What’s more, there’s no 3G connectivity built into the MacBook mini, while our own MacBook nano has an iPhone-style SIM card slot. What’s more, adding a Mini DisplayPort to the MacBook mini seems frivolous since an Apple netbook is all about portability.

We still reckon a MacBook nano is the way forward, but take a look at the comparison shots below and be sure to vote in our poll: MacBook mini or MacBook nano?

Why not put a link to the source of your stuff in your article? All of your links are back to irrelevant Electric Pig articles. I had to google your images to find out the source.

Hi Jon, not sure where your eyes are pointing, but every article that’s sourced from elsewhere has a via link. Including this one. Just look at the bottom of the story! As for irrelevant links, if you can point out an individual one, that might be more helpful – everything here’s related to the latest MacBook air or Apple netbook stories.
