The LG GD900 caused a stir at Mobile World Congress last month, debuting with a transparent keypad, and very few other details. But now LG’s cleared up the confusion with a ton of new information how it’ll work, and when we can get hold of it.

The LG GD900 will launch in May, and that see-through keypad isn’t just for numbers. LG says it’ll work as a touchpad, supporting multitouch and gestures.

“Gesture Shortcut enables users to configure their favourite shortcuts,” explains LG. “For instance, users can write an “M” on the touchpad and configure this command to run  the music player.”

Sounds fancy, but that’s not all the LG GD900 will do. While playing music or video, it’ll use the touchpad as a “Touch Wheel,” just like traditional iPods. LG reckons that’ll make it easier to “pause, play and rewind multimedia clips.”

But it’s not just the touchpad that’s finger friendly. The LG GD900 has a full touchscreen display as well, banishing buttons for good.

Oh, and while we’re talking about the display, the LG GD900 will also come packing the new S-Class interface, previously seen jazzing up the LG Arena.
