Google Chrome for Mac OS X could be with us by Autumn, Google has let slip.
Google Chrome, the Big G’s browser to take on Firefox and Internet Explorer, launched on PC back in September, but the Mac OS X version of Google Chrome, Chromium, is still at an early stage, so read on for a glimpse before it matures into public beta.
The first images of Google Chrome for Mac appeared last month, but Google has kept quiet about a release date until now. Google has just said it will be “very surprised” and “very unhappy” if Google Chrome for Mac wasn’t released as a public beta for us all to play with by Fall – that’s Autumn to us English speaking folk.
It’s early days for the browser (there’s currently no-plug in support, for example) but Google Chrome for Mac is already capable of basic browsing. And crucially, when a tab crashes, individual window memory management means the other tabs don’t.
We’ll keep you up to date with progress, but if you want to see a build of Google Chrome for Mac in action right now, check out the video below.
