Ghostbusters is coming to iPhone! Buckle up your boots and grab your PKE meter, as Sony Pictures Television has just announced an iPhone version of the Ghostbusters game for iPhone, to go with the Xbox 360, Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii versions.

We already knew Ghostbusters was incoming for all three home consoles in June, but now you can add iPhone to the list too.

Sony says the Ghostbusters iPhone game will see you playing as the traditional team from the Ghostbusters movies, tackling New York borough by borough, trapping pesky poltergeists and stopping innocent citizens from being slimed. Think Halloween Harry, only with Ghostbusters’ Peter Venkman deadpanning it all the way through.

There’s no word on how you’ll control the Ghostbusters iPhone game yet, but we’d love to see Sony’s developers grabbing Apple’s new SDK with both hands, creating a Ghostbusters iPhone game that uses the iPhone’s accelerometer, Bluetooth multiplayer and maybe even location sensing to play multiplayer games against gamers acting as ghouls in your area.

We can already imagine tilting the iPhone to control a proton pack beam, just as you’ll be able to do with the Wiimote when Ghostbusters lands on the Nintendo Wii.

Unfortunately, other than the fact it’s coming, and that it’ll be here by June, Sony has yet to leak any more details about the Ghostbusters iPhone game just yet. But as soon as they do, who you gonna call for the info? Er, us, of course.

Out June | £TBC | Sony Pictures (iPhone available at Apple)

Why on earth are you using the Ghostbusters II logo for this article?

  2. @John – because it’s multitouch?! :D
