The Asus Eee PC 1004DN, the first Eee PC with an optical disc drive, has just popped up on Asus’s website. Presenting the world first official photo of the Asus Eee PC 1004DN!

Last week we heard whispers of the Asus Eee PC 1004DN shipping in April, but now the 10 inch netbook has been officially announced by Asus, with one tantalising official photo, plus specs.

Looks wise, the Asus Eee PC 1004DN is a cracker. It’s got the chiclet keyboard of the Eee PC 1000HE, none of the tacky white coating of much of the Eee line, and a fingerprint scanner to protect your data should someone lift the Asus Eee PC 1004DN out of your bag.

Under the bonnet though, DVD drive aside, the Asus Eee PC 1004DN is the same old story. An Atom 1.66GHz processor, expandable to 2GB of RAM, 120GB hard drive plus Wi-fi and Bluetooth, you know how Asus rolls. Still, simply not having to lug an external disc drive around is selling point enough for us.

Asus UK isn’t saying anything about when we’ll be seeing the Asus Eee PC 1004DN just yet, so it looks like we’ll have to make do with drooling over this picture for now, but we’ll drop you a line if and when that changes.
