The O2 Joggler isn’t out until next month, but we’ve already got hands-on with it and felt up its luvverly touchscreen. Can this replace your faithful paper calendar? Read on to find out, with first impressions and plenty of pictures along the way!

The O2 Joggler is a bit of puzzler. There’s no cateogrising it: is the O2 Joggler a digital photo frame with power, a PDA with a plug or even a whole new type of home hub?

O2 Joggler review

We’ve played with the O2 Joggler and we’re still not sure, but it ain’t half clever. Hooking up to your home Wi-Fi, the O2 Joggler juggles your family’s appointments, sending alert texts when events crop up and in the future it’ll let you send text messages to the family too, even though the O2 Joggler isn’t tied in to any contract.

You can also catch up with news, weather and traffic alerts on-screen, and the O2 Joggler will even double up as a digital photo frame and video player. O2 says internet radio is coming to the device too, hopefully in time for launch next month.

After playing with the O2 Joggler, we reckon it’s a neat package for the price. O2 still needs to make a few software tweaks as the version we’ve tried was a bit slow, but any updates O2 pushes out will be delivered over the air so you won’t even notice.

That leaves our only real gripe being the inability to sync with smartphone calendars, but the O2 Joggler is aimed at families, and O2 hasn’t ruled this out of a future update. The O2 Joggler is out next month, so count down the days until the demise of the paper calendar with our hands-on pics!

Out April | £149.99 | O2

    Re The Joggler

I would suggest that anyone looking at buying into this range of products (bolt on in addition to the unit) takes a long hard look at the Terms and Conditions especially section 3 of the Joggler Ts and Cs.

You have to agree to O2 using any information you store on the service (ie their serves) and agree to their sharing and using informaton including telephone numbers etc to any telecommunications company, debt collection agencyy and credit reference company.

Sorry O2 nice looking piece of kit but my daries and calenders, contacts and what I am doing is my business NOT yours. So no go from me on that – end of a paper calendar/diary – Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin

You are warned this is invidious and should not be allowed Remember the data protection act will not protect you if you agree to allow 02 their “contrcat” terms – so don’t go running to the Data Protection Registrar you will have signed away your rights. Read them and weep.

it does have a lot of potential.. just that it lacks load of features that could make it so much better… like a browser for one to name a few!!
Well after a bit of hunting I managed to find someone who thinks the same… http://www.hackthejoggler.com
Will just have to keep an eye out because this machine can do the business but 02 software make it what it is now!!

The old hackthejoggler site was a bit of a con – someone found a telnet bug (which was fixed 2 days later in a firmware update), and the site owner shut the site down and did a runner.. and I never heard anyone got the £1000 either.

There’s an active hacking effort on http://www.hackthejoggler.co.uk/ – we’ve got a *lot* further since that site was closed.
