UPDATE: Can DSi Ware help the DSi take on the iPhone as a gaming device? Read on to find out in our feature.
The Nintendo DSi Ware service to download games onto the Nintendo DSi will be live from launch in North America, Ninty’s let slip. Will it be coming to the UK too? Read on to find out.
The Nintendo DSi Ware download service is already up and running in Japan, but at the Games Developers Conference in San Francisco yesterday, Nintendo announced that Nintendo DSi Ware would be rolling out in North America too with the launch of the DSi early next month.
There are four Nintendo DSi Ware games likely to be available to purchase initially: WarioWare Snapped!, a bunch of micro games based on WarioWare that take advantage of the DSi’s camera; Code 10, a fiendish number puzzle; Pyro, an old school shooter; and the decidedly non-game like Moving Memo, for creating animations.
So, while not quite the app store or virtual console that was rumoured, Nintendo DSi Ware is a start at least. Unfortunately Nintendo UK is still keeping tight lipped about the service over here, so we may have to wait until April 3 to turn on our DSi and see for ourselves, but we’ll let you know ASAP if that changes.
