Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has already been confirmed by publisher Activision. Now we can put a street date on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 shooter and add a few snippets of video footage and game info to our list of reasons to get excited about the game, sequel to one of the greatest FPSs of the current console generation.

This true successor to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is being developed by Infinity Ward, the inventors of the franchise and the ones responsible for all the Call of Duty series’ better games.

Little is known about the sequel just yet – the trailer now available on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 website artily reveals some gun toting bad ‘uns riding a lift before spoiling what might have been a polite buffet meal or business seminar or Bar Mitzvah (it’s rather hard to tell) through the medium of automatic weaponry.

Although not much is set in stone, the eagle-eyed posters at NeoGAF have spotted what might be a hint of new multiplayer perks and translated a short snippet of Russian at the end of the teaser, which says: “God is with us; a revolution is not possible without a revolutionary situation”.

So it’s shaping up to be much the same deal as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare really, undoubtedly complete with upgraded graphics, enhanced multiplayer modes and a probably a new setting. And that’s certainly no bad thing. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is coming out on November 10th, 2009.

I get the feeling COD MW2 will be a major letdown, as Killzone2 has raised the bar so much, there is no way a multiplatform title that also has to cater for the 360′s last-gen storage can even remotely come close…

I’m sure 360 fans will lap it up thou.

I really hope not. Infinity ward did such a cracking job on Modern Warfare… It’s still one of my all time favourite Xbox games.

Just in time for those dark winter evenings, great news!

Does Killzone 2 come on a Blu-Ray disc then? I thought the vast majority of PS3 games (if not all) were still DVD-based (which are still 9Gb don’t forget)

    @Anonymous Merchant
All PS3 games are on Blu-ray. Although not all of them tap the full capacity of the Blu-ray disc yet.

But even if they don’t need 50GB of space, the available capacity means devs can save time on compression. In that sense Blu-ray is a big ace in Sony’s sleeve.

God, I cannot stand the retards who own consoles. PC is king of games.

  • Simon

Every PS3 game comes on Blu-Ray, DVD is last-generation for older consoles like the PS2, Xbox and Xbox360.

Na the Infinity Ward make the best call of duty its a shame about jug and p90′s tho that was a let down but MW2 will be good

  • The shepard

Killzone 2 raised the bar for PS3 but not for gaming on whole.

MW2 will be a huge success for both consoles and the PC.

The game is what makes a good gamer not the console.
