Yesterday we asked what you wanted from a new iPhone, and you weren’t shy in coming forward. It seems Apple’s got a lot to pack in to the new iPhone, over and above what the new iPhone OS 3.0 will deliver. Read on to see what Apple needs on its new iPhone checklist.

Our poll show’s Apple’s got a lot to build into the new iPhone. Deep breath, it needs: Better battery life, lots more capacity, taking it above 32GB, an OLED screen, video recording, faster 3G and video calling, including iChat compatibility.

Basically, you want the lot. And that’s on top of stereo Bluetooth, accessory support and the improved apps that iPhone OS 3.0 will bring. Sounds like Apple had better make the new iPhone moon-on-a-stick-shaped.

Asking for more features will automatically impact the battery life since the iPhone will be used even more. The faster 3G and video recording will be notable battery drainers. I doubt if the OLED display will offset that. I’ve heard a rumor that the iPhone is supposed to have some sort of new battery technology, but that seems rather dubious.

I wouldn’t rule out new battery tech. The batteries inside the new 17 inch MacBook pro are custom, using square cells instead of round to squeeze more battery into the same space. Apple could be considering a similar trick for the new iPhone.
