Apple’s iPhone Bluetooth headset was much lusted after by Mac-addicts, but Apple has quietly discontinued its slimline ear-filler. Is it a sign of poor sales, or a hint that a stereo Bluetooth version is just around the corner?

We wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the latter. In fact, since Apple’s enabling stereo Bluetooth in the new iPhone OS 3.0 software you can bet Jobs and Co have a new iPhone Bluetooth headset with stereo abilities on the way.

As committed gadget fans, it’s hard to see the back of the now discontinued iPhone Bluetooth headset. Sure, it was expensive, but its ability to charge in the same dock as an iPhone, slimline looks and Apple’s neat addition of a separate battery meter for it on the iPhone’s screen made us love it.

Hopefully, by the time iPhone OS 3.0 rolls into town we’ll have a new iPhone Bluetooth headset to play with, packing even more tricks and kitted out with stereo abilities. Fingers crossed.
