The Acer A1 may be the latest phone in the Android line-up, according to reports Acer will be launching their new Google-powered handset around September this year.
The Acer A1 could mark the start of Acer breaking out of its Windows Mobile comfort zone and venturing into the wonderful world of Android.
The Philippine Business Mirror quotes an unnamed ‘insider’ who said that the A1 is a touchscreen device, running Android, that will be one of four phones Acer will release in September. It is not known if any of the other three will also be running Android or Windows Mobile.
An Acer spokesman declined to comment, as did Google’s point woman in Beijing, so this may turn out to be tosh – although ‘A1′ does fit the slightly boring naming scheme (L1, C1, etc.) that Acer has been using lately and helps to confirm the non-too-subtle hint dropped by Acer’s head of smartphones Aymer De Lencquesaing when he was in London earlier this month.
