Amazon Video On Demand is about to get HD TV shows for download, and they could cost as little as £2! Read on for the HD video download details.
Just days after iTunes launched HD movie purchases in the US, Amazon is about to do something similar: it’s about to launch HD TV shows on its Amazon Video On Demand service.
Amazon has yet to announce the scheme formally, but several hints as to what’s in store for Amazon Video On Demand have cropped up in Google’s cache of Amazon.com. Episodes of TV series including House and Law & Order have been spotted in HD, with screenshots suggesting Amazon Video On Demand will charge $2.99 (£2.05) per episode or $53 (£36) for a season pass.
Those prices put Amazon Video On Demand in direct competition with iTunes, which charges £2.49 per HD episode. Owners of the Nokia 5800 will be pleased too, since it’s compatible with Amazon Video On Demand and while it won’t display HD shows, fiercer competition means more choice in the shows on offer. Now, if only Amazon would hurry up and bring Video on Demand to the UK, like it has done the Amazon MP3 music store…
