The global financial crisis is forcing ordinary gadget lovers to be a bit more careful with their purchases, right? Well, those lovably stylish Danes at Bang & Olufsen clearly think there’s plenty of spare spondulicks knocking around out there: they’ve just unveiled a €100,000 (£94,000) 103-inch plasma.

Dubbed the BeoVision 4-103, this hulking gogglebox looks pretty marvellous, as you’d imagine from a B&O product – but it also sports some added flair. Switch it on using the swanky touchscreen remote and it elevates itself to your viewing level, while a BeoLab 10-inch speaker emerges from the bottom. It’s like the Optimus Prime of tellies!

If that isn’t sufficiently impressive, the screen also re-calibrates itself every 120 hours to ensure tip-top performance; the system, called VisionClear, automatically adjusts colour and brightness. The 1080p plasma panel itself comes from the Panasonic TH-103PF9, but B&O have added their own image processing tech and anti-glare coating.

B&O describes the BeoVision 4-103 as a “concept” design to show off what the company is capable of, but it does seem as though the TV will actually go on sale this summer. Better get saving, folks – or if you want something a touch more affordable, there’s always the 4-103′s little brother, the newly-announced 40-inch BeoVision 8…
