Evoasis has announced that it will be bringing six new electric vehicle charging stations to central London by the end of 2009 – with six more to follow soon after.
The UpStart charging stations, which bear a strong resemblance to red postboxes, are to be located on the sites of abandoned petrol stations. The first site will be on Grosvenor Road, Pimlico, and will feature twelve charging bays.
The sites will join the 60 charge points already in central London, and Evoasis is also reportedly in talks with Tesco with the aim of bringing its charge posts to supermarket car parks.
Topping up the battery of your electric vehicle will apparently cost £2 and take around 20 minutes. Screens on the charging posts will feature advertising, and you’ll also be able to check your leccy motor’s condition and, er, download songs for its MP3 player.
