Knock knock. Who’s there? Door computer. Hang on, door computer? Yup. Someone’s turned their peep hole into an LCD panel with power. Read on for all the details.
We’ve seen computers shoved into strange things before (Not least a plug), but a door? That’s what Korean company Elivision has done though, squeezing a 17 inch LCD, Linux-based display inside a frame on hinges.
Truth be told, the door computer is just a massive digital photo frame with speakers at the moment which can be updated via USB, but we think this could have a big future.
Pop a webcam in there and hack some video conferencing software onboard and the door computer is the new peep hole or intercom. Should you feel particularly evil, you could even make the door computer look like you’re home when you’re not.
Elivision has yet to announce pricing for the door computer, but we’ll let you know when it creaks into the open. In the meantime, check the door computer out in action in the video below.
