UPDATE: Microsoft’s been as good as its word. Internet Explorer 8 is out for download now!
Internet Explorer 8 will come out of public testing in just a few hours time, with Microsoft announcing a worldwide public roll out of the finalised Internet Explorer 8 from 4pm today. Is it up to the job? Read on for all the details.
Internet Explorer 8 has been in public testing for some months now, but today, Microsoft makes it official. Microsoft claims the finished Internet Explorer 8 is extra secure, blocking “two to four times” more malware attacks than other browsers, but we’re more interested in the accelerators feature, which brings up options in right click such as “find on a map”, depending on context, and the obligatory private surfing mode, InPrivate Browsing.
The new Internet Explorer 8 might be no biggie to anyone who has used Opera or Firefox for any length of time, but anyone whose IT department forces them to use Internet Explorer at work should prepare for the switchover to Internet Explorer 8 very soon.
Looks like the browser wars are well and truly on, with new betas of Google Chrome and Safari on the desktop, and Mozilla Fennec on mobile. Click on the link below after 4pm today to download Internet Explorer 8 for free.
