Elgato Turbo.264 HD launches

The Elgato Turbo.264 HD, a 1080p chomping version of Elgato’s video conversion dongle for Macs, has just gone on sale. Want to slash the time it takes to go from shooting to uploading? Read on for all the details.

Elgato’s original Turbo.264 USB stick was handy enough, letting you convert videos to iPod and YouTube friendly H.264 format in double quick time. But Elgato’s released the Elgato Turbo.264 HD, and this time, it ploughs through full HD video straight from your camcorder too.

As well as providing a processing boost over the original, the Elgato Turbo.264 HD also supports the AVCHD camcorder format, as well as hi-res MPEG 2 and MPEG 4. It’s ludicrously user friendly: the Elgato Turbo.264 HD will detect if an AVCHD camcorder is plugged in, so you’re good to go with just a few clicks.

The Elgato Turbo.264 HD is on sale today for the knockdown sum of £140. If you own a camcorder and just about any Apple product, you’ll need the Elgato Turbo.264 HD, so get ordering.
