A PS3 price cut has been expected since last September, but even though PS3 took a bit of a battering from Xbox 360 over Christmas, the spiralling economic disaster had significantly dampened our hopes of price reduction in the foreseeable future. A PSP price cut wasn’t anticipated at all, but according to one retailer, Sony is about to slash the prices of both PS3 and PSP, and soon!

Right now, even the market leading Nintendo Wii is being forced to push prices up in response to irksome currency exchange rates. For Sony to shunt PS3 and PSP prices in the opposite direction would be a highly welcome move.

Sony is keeping mum, of course, and other retailers have declined to comment. However, in the US at least there are clear indications of a new PS3 bundle coming through, packing two PS3 launch titles, MotorStorm and Resistance: Fall of Man. It’s expected to launch after the upcoming GDC event.

Okay, that’s not strictly a price cut and certainly not one that affects the PSP. However, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if the PSP got a similar bundle. And who knows, maybe Sony is planning a massive double whammy with price cuts and new bundles across the board. We’ll keep you posted.

I doubt we will see a price cut. The PS3 is already great value for money, and selling very well indeed (despite what Microsoft would want us to believe).

    21.3m PS3 in 2 years = 10m/year
    28m 360′s in 3.5 years = 8m/year

Yep, Sony will launch a new PSP Entertainment Pack on June 9th, the Rock Band Unplugged one. Still comes with the black PSP-3000, but with a 4GB memory card and School of Rock movie download voucher. So yes, the Ratchet and Clank Bundle is already on sales at some online sellers.
