Remember the Pocket Yoga ultra portable PC we saw Lenovo usher online yesterday? It turns out it’s not real: Lenovo’s just admitted it’s only a concept the company was working on. What’s more, it’s over two years old! What on earth was Lenovo thinking? Read on for the full story.

Lenovo’s Pocket Yoga almost had us throwing our wishlist with a Sony VAIO P scrawled on it in the bin: the ultra small form factor, leather finish and brilliant belt clip that doubled up as a wireless mouse seemed too good to be true, so you can imagine our dismay when the Pocket Yoga turned out to be just that.

Johnson Li, Director of Lenovo’s Beijing Innovation Centre, responded to the positive news coverage of the Pocket Yoga by informing us that it was a two year old concept, never intended for release.

The Pocket Yoga “experiment is finished…Next time, which story we will share with you? Who knows?”, Li wrote.

Thanks Lenovo. That was a nice bit of viral marketing you had going on there. But is it right for the company to tease us so meanly? Especially when the Pocket Yoga looks so good. Frankly, we feel a bit dirty and used. Lenovo’s certainly made us trust them a little bit less. Whether that’s a good or bad thing, we’ll leave up to you.

Well well. Is this the new way of test marketing in a recession? Seems they’ve found a winner…
