Wacom‘s best known for its graphics tablets, so the Wacom nextbeat NXT-1000 completely blindsided us just now. The NXT-1000 is a DJ interface with a difference: it’s got a touch sensitive turntable, buttons and scratchpad! Read on for the DJ details.
The Wacom NXT-1000 looks like a fantastic controller for budding beat matchers. As well as a whole host of twiddly buttons to tweak sounds, the Wacom NXT-1000 also packs a mixer with 3-band EQ, a sampler, and an LCD panel to queue up effects.
But hang on, you say. Wacom. Entering the DJ market? It’s not so strange as it might sound: sitting pretty on top of the Wacom NXT-1000 is a wireless pad chock full of Wacom’s touch sensitive technology that acts as a turntable and even a drum machine combined.
In other words, plug in some wireless headphones and you’ll be able to jump off the decks with the Wacom NXT-1000 and go for a bit of crowd surfing mid song, or even mid scratch. The Wacom NXT-1000 is due out in Europe and Japan by Summer, with more details expected later this month so stay tuned.
