Vivitar has whacked the ViviCam 8027 camera online, and it’s a great little compact that combines retro styling with a decent digital snapper, so you can pretend it’s the 1970s without having to go down to the chemists and wait three days for your pictures. Read on for the full details.

We’ve seen a few retro cameras recently, but they’ve been floating above the four figure mark, so it’s nice to see the ViviCam 8027, a retro digital compact that shouldn’t cost the earth.

Inside the ViviCam 8027 you’ve got an 8.1 megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom, anti-shake technology, a 2.4 inch LCD screen and VGA video recording, but it’s the leather like look of the ViviCam 8027 (The ViviCam 8027 comes in red, black or faded ’70s yellow) that’s got us sold.

Vivitar has yet to release a cost or shipping date for the Vivicam 8027 but rumours of a $100 (£70) price tag are knocking around, so start growing a Tom Selleck moustache and by the time it’s grown we should know.
