iPhone 3.0 OS will be unveiled tomorrow and Apple fanboys are salivating at what that the revised OS may contain. Kevin Rose, founder of Digg, reckons he has a good idea what Apple is planning and on Saturday he spilled the beans to a crowd at the SXSW festival.

The iPhone 3.0 OS will, says Rose, finally lay to rest the number one iPhone annoyance by including OS-wide copy and paste for the first time.

Speaking at the Diggnation event at SXSW, Rose said that iPhone 3.0 OS would let users select text by double-tapping and ‘pinching’ the chosen text to copy to the clipboard. As for other enhancements, Rose claims that iPhone 3.0.OS will not have the longed-for MMS support or video capture.

Rose has some form for predicting which way Apple will jump – he correctly predicted the most recent shuffle in almost supernatural detail. If he is on the money this time, do you think Apple will just… stop inviting him over?

Would be very nice. Video capture would be nice too – if the hardware really is up to it.

MMS shouldn’t be an issue though. MMS is simply a compromise technology for mobile phones – a hang over from pre-email capabilities – to allow operators to cash in on photo and other animated content sending. Now that nearly all mobile phones, not only smartphones, support email why bother with MMS?

Adding MMS to the iPhone would be a step backwards technologically speaking – not something Apple is normally prone to doing…
