BioShock 2: Sea Of Dreams may not have many official details yet. But the game is so hotly-anticipated that the Internet is awash with rumours about what it will include. The controversial original, set in a drowned art deco city full of insane scientists, featured tiny bloodsucking girls and their Big Daddy diving-suited protectors. BioShock 2 (set seven years after the original – according to the official teaser website) is confirmed to feature Big Sisters, a faster, lither version of the Big Daddies. But what else?

The newest rumours emerging about BioShock 2: Sea Of Dreams are: two-person co-operative online play (multi-player of some form is confirmed); you playing as a renegade Big Daddy (according to an official “world exclusive” preview by Game Informer magazine); the arrival of a Soviet submarine, with Russian troops intent on occupying the city for their own ends; and that the game will come out on PC, Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 consoles simultaneously (confirmed, according to MTV’s Multiplayer blog).

Whatever is truth and whatever is rumour, BioShock 2: Sea Of Dreams is one of the games you should be most excited about in 2009.

    Mark,

“The multi-platform titles are usually meh… because they have to cater for the 360, and it’s inadequacies” The 360′s only real inadequacy so far is arguably choosing DVD over Blu-ray – limiting storage capacity. And while a few developers have commented on this, most seem to view it as not so much a problem. Simply put, the 360 is a fine games machine, as is the PS3.

Meanwhile, most of the best games are multi-platform these days – GTA IV, Fallout 3, Bioshock, Resi 5 etc.

And as to an argument on platform exclusives, I have to say I think the 360 is winning that battle so far. Despite Killzone 2′s awesome visuals, the only must-have PS3 exclusives for me remain Uncharted and LittleBigPlanet. On the 360 – Mass Effect, Gears Of War I and II, GTA IV DLC and more.

In all, writing off BioShock 2 because it will likely come to a console you dislike is not just cutting off your nose to spite your face, it’s also putting fanboy brand-loyalty above appreciation of good videogames. Which is truly sad.

Good games are good games, irregardless of which console they come out on. And BioShock 2? That looks set to be a great game. So don’t miss out.
