OLED lights launching next year

OLED lights will go mainstream next year, says an analyst, with several big brands expecting to start mass production on the gorgeous next gen lighting technology. Blinding news! Read on to find out who’ll be leading the charge.

According to display consultant and market research company DisplaySearch, big name manufacturers will begin mass production of low power, OLED lights from 2010, with the tech hitting critical mass by 2011.

DisplaySearch estimates that both Philips and GE (General Electric) will start pushing OLED lights from 2010, with the likes of Konica Minolta and Lumiotec following in 2011. So confident is DisplaySearch about the future of OLED lighting, it says the market will be worth $6bn (£4.27bn) by 2018.
