It will be Cupcake all round this April when the T-Mobile G1 Android phone receives operating system add-ons that give the Android OS a bunch of extra features and performance tweaks.
Cupcake is the development codename of a revised Android OS that adds some interesting new features and performance tweaks. Many T-Mobile G1 users have been lusting after Cupcake after reading the Android development roadmap, but the improvements were not included in the recent OTA update.
With the new and improved HTC Magic due to go on sale via rival carrier Vodafone, T-Mobile seems to have decided to give the T-Mobile G1 a spring clean and will be rolling out Cupcake to UK handsets this April.
Cupcake should solve some niggling issues with the T-Mobile G1 like a lack of decent onscreen keyboard (although it has a perfectly decent real keyboard) and add video recording, support for Bluetooth headphones and other goodies.
