A new Kindle killer is here: the Brother e-reader, with a huge A4 sized display, has just been announced. Read on for the juicy details.

The Amazon Kindle 2 has the paperback e-reader market all wrapped up, but Japanese company Brother thinks there’s a market for an e-reader with a much bigger display. Presenting the SV-100B e-reader, sporting a 9.7 inch (A4) LCD, hi-res 1,200×825 screen.

The Brother e-reader is aimed at businessy folk as a document viewer (Those look like DIY instructions to us) but with up to 83 hours of battery life, just how many flatpack cupboards are you planning on making? We could definitely see this as a great way to read magazines at the size they were meant to be too.

Admittedly, the Brother e-reader isn’t the first A4 e-reader we’ve seen (That credit goes to Fujitsu’s colour screen e-reader). But unlike the Fujitsu number, or the rumoured Kindle 3, this is actually coming out soon. The Brother e-reader goes on sale in Japan in June, and we’ll keep you posted if it arrives on these fair shores.

Out June | £830 | Brother (Via CrunchGear)
