Apple TV could be getting a motion sensing remote control, just like the Nintendo Wii. Want to browse through your files with a flick of the wrist? It could happen, so read on to find out what we know.
Apple could be working on a Wiimote like controller for Apple TV if patents applied for by Cupertino are anything to go by.
A patent filed for by Apple last year but published this week shows a remote with motion detection kit built in that controls a cursor on screen, and an infrared module you’d slap on top of the screen just like the Wii.
It gets better though: the Apple TV Wiimote patent application even suggests that a press of a button could bring up a dock along the bottom of the screen, which you could then scroll across with a wave of the Apple TV remote. You could even zoom in and out on pictures by pushing back and forwards.
No news yet on if or when we’ll be seeing an Apple TV Wiimote type wand, but Apple TV is in sore need of a refresh, so who knows? We’ll be sure to keep you posted.
