The Apple netbook we’ve been hearing so much about is edging closer to reality and sounding less like a rumour with each day. The latest murmurs are that the Apple netbook will be a 10 inch model, putting it head to head against the likes of the Eee PC, rather than the Sony VAIO P.
The Apple netbook rumours re-emerged yesterday with the news that Apple had already sorted manufacturers to produce it, and now there’s more precise information.
New sources have weighed in, telling CNN that an Apple netbook will launch in the second half of 2009, and pack a monitor between 9.7 and 10 inches in size.
That puts the Apple netbook up against the Asus Eee PC 1000 range (Asus has said it will focus on 10 inch netbooks from now on) rather than the high end but ultra portable Sony VAIO P.
The anonymous sources also confirmed that Wintek and Quanta Computer have been enlisted to assemble the touchscreen Apple netbook, so it’s really starting to look like this is happening. Don’t expect to hear anything official from Apple regarding an Apple netbook until the day it arrives, but we’ll keep you posted.
