UPDATE: Nokia has unveiled the Nokia 5030, 5330 XpressMusic and 5730 XpressMusic mobiles – check them out!

Nokia is planning a music-themed event this Weds 11th March. Could this mean more music player handsets, a bigger Comes With Music library, or are they about to start playing a different tune about Digital Rights Management?

Nokia’s Events page is currently showing a mysterious (well, not that mysterious – it is clearly using the Comes With Music branding) image of a turntable stylus with the phrase “Your Music Player is Ringing” and Wednesday’s date.

Obviously, something is afoot in the Comes With Music world, but what?  “Your music player is ringing” implies new handsets, but it is barely five minutes since the Mobile World Congress – surely Nokia would have announced any new hardware there?

Other possibilities include an expanded music library, new territories or just something mundane like slightly different terms and conditions.

And then there is Digital Rights Management (DRM). Comes With Music‘s copy protection has already been hacked and with even Apple now ready to ditch DRM, maybe Nokia will follow suit? Whatever the case, the event has several Q&A sessions scheduled straight afterwards, so there must be something worth discussing. We’ll keep you posted…
