New Sky+HD EPG arrives tomorrow!

The new Sky+HD EPG arrives tomorrow, letting HD viewers find and record their fave shows even more easily! Read on to find out all about it.

The new Sky+HD EPG overhaul has been in the works for years, but now it’s finally here. The new Sky+HD EPG, Sky+HD Guide, starts rolling out to audiences from Tuesday!

The new Sky+HD EPG still packs all the ace features we saw back in May, including Mini TV, so you’ll still be able to see what’s on while you browse, the ability to search listings 7 days in advance, and the new Series Stack feature, which groups all the episodes from a series under the same name to save wading through. Oh, and did we mention the new Sky+HD EPG menu itself is in HD too?

The roll out for the new Sky+HD EPG begins tomorrow, but don’t worry, you won’t lose anything you’ve recorded. If you simply can’t wait though, check out our sneak peek of the new Sky+HD EPG below!

    Only SOME Thompson boxes are getting it tommorrow apparently.. Specific model numbers.

    4E000E and 4E0007 are what I heard…

    Correction:

    So far, Sky customers on the forums with Thomson boxes of versions 4E300E and 4E3011 – both recent models without component outputs – have reported receiving the information pack. It is understood that the new software will be downloaded to those boxes at 4am on Tuesday, March 10, with other boxes scheduled to get it over the coming months.

    I’ve just had a chat with Sky and a spokesperson has confirmed that it’s a “phased roll out”, but all Sky+HD customers will get the new EPG over the next few months. If you’re one of the lucky ones who gets it tomorrow though, let us know how you’re finding it.

    I do wish I’d known about this ‘enhancement’ in advance of it being pushed to my Sky+HD box with no option to decline its installation. I would have left my box unplugged.

    I’m not a fan of the new EPG at all.

    Two pushes of ‘Select’ to change to a channel instead of one. Great! At least that one’s solved by turning off the mini-tv.

    And the channel list within categories no longer wraps-around – I used to get to the last channel by going ‘up’ from the first. No more.

    Why does Sky think they can make such a fundamental modification to my privately owned (non-subsidised) equipment without my express permission?

    Lucky you. I agree – get a life.
    I would love to get it. It looks very amazing. Most of the features are something I was looking forward to a long time ago. Mini TV just sounds great. I always hated that I had to stop watching TV to look into the TV menu.

    I even force my box to download the EPG but it downloaded the old version again :-( .

    I absolutely hate the new SKY HD menu. I have so many problems with SKY that I could write a book.

    look likes the new epg software is mostly available with Thomson models not the Amstrads.

    I had my skyHD box replaced because of a fault which was an amstrad. The new one was a Thompson and had the new menu. Much better. the only thing i didn’t like was when you press the fav button, it takes you back to you last watched channel which is good but if you were say watching sky sports 1. on the old system your fav button would continue from there. the new system continues from your last wached programme. but we’ll get used to it. most people dont like change, just give it time and you’ll see its much better. All thompson boxes will be updated first and other makes will be updated automatically over the next few months. be patient!!

    you own the box, sky own the firmware.. read your terms and conditions (yes I was that sad to actuall read them!) ;-)

    I hate the new sky plus box, it is so annoying. every time I look @ the menu i just want to smash the tv up. My doctor says that I should get hold of sky to change it back. I did call them, after 1 and a bit hours on the phone this was not possible.. I hope the person whom created this hell has a crappy life with nothing to look forward to like me when i turn my tv on!!!!

      jeeeees…….. its an EPG!!!! If ur going to ur doctor for that I feel sorry for him! Still waiting for my EPG……. maybe i should go see a psychiatrist????

        Think Ben was joking about the doc Brad!!! Melon!!! Anyway, I agree, I hate the new HD menu plus since it has appeared my box has crashed and had to be reset about 10 times (in appx 4 days). I am all for change but not at the detriment of my TV viewing enjoyment.

    Does any one know if you can bager the tec guys at sky in to sending the update down to your box or is it simply on a serial no: rollout.

      It should still be rolling out. I know people who have had it for months, and others who’re still waiting. Guess you’ll just have to hang tight!
