Grand Theft Auto 5 will release “between November 1, 2009 and October 31, 2010″ Michael Pachter, analyst at Wedbush Morgan, has predicted. Pachter said there was a “reasonable expectation” of such a move on the part of Rockstar Games and its parent company Take-Two Interactive. The analyst went on to estimate current sales figures for the Microsoft Xbox 360 downloadable add-on for Grand Theft Auto 4, The Lost And Damned. Pachter estimates The Lost And Damned to have already sold more than one million copies.

Microsoft has admitted that Grand Theft Auto 4: The Lost And Damned has broken Xbox Live downloadable content sales records, but has not put a figure forward. Pachter also predicts that The Lost And Damned will have sold over two million copies by the end of October, 2009.

Pachter is renowned in the games industry for making the most controversial and surprising of predictions, many of which turn out to be right. Recently, Pachter predicted that Grand Theft Auto 4 would sell more on the PS3 than the Xbox 360 (unknown), that Nintendo would introduce a new version of its DS handheld console (correct, the DSi) and that Sony would cut the price of the PS3 (not correct… yet).

In his latest gaze into the crystal ball, Pachter also predicted that the second episode of downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV would release after the end of Take-Two’s financial year in October. The add-on is rumoured to feature Dominican drug dealer Luis Fernando Lopez as the final part of an “Impossible Trinity” of playable characters including Niko Bellic and Johnny Klebitz.

Any news on if GTA5 is PS3 exclusive? That is what Rockstar hinted at in the past, along with saying that the 360′s limitations (lack of standard HDD, and only a DVD drive) were holding the GTA series back.

you are out your mind given the attach rate of the 360 (8 or 9?) and a 200 dollar console price tag that any developer isn’t going to want their game released on the 360 now. Look at Square Enix.

Especially Rockstar as the DLC Lost and Damned is set to sell over 2 million copies by Oct this year and another is rumored to be coming. It broke all Xbox Live DLC records the day it was released.

Dude I love my PS3 and Wii but MS learned a thing or two last gen when the PS2 simply buried it across the board. MS is out for blood this gen and its very apparant. NPD sales last month or before (can’t remember) showed MS had 10 games in the top 20 list. Some months not a single PS3 game is in the top 10.

This is just talking about add-ons!!!! I wanna know about an official seperate game!! By gta 5 i didnt mean lost and the damned….

I think GTA 5 will have to be a PS3 exclusive, if it’s going to be released before 2011. Unless MS make another console, with better capabilities, it will HAVE to be a PS3 exclusive.

Oh I don’t know. Microsoft will happily pay through the nose for flagship exclusives. Plus imagine the publicity Rockstar would generate if GTA 5 used Project Natal. I can see the Daily Mail now: you can mime beating prostitutes to death? OUTRAGE!
