Flip Video streaming incoming?

UPDATE: Cisco has just confirmed it’s buying Pure Digital. We’ll let you know of any changes or new Flip Video announcements as soon as we hear them.

The Flip Video line of video cameras could be getting live streaming built in, so you’ll be able to shoot and stream video to the internet with a push of a button. Farewell, unnecessary uploading! Read on to find out how we know.

We love Pure Digital’s line of easy to use Flip Video camcorders, but they could be about to get even better. Inside sources say that start up Pure Digital has been sold to Cisco for $500m in “a done deal”.

TechCrunch reports that Cisco is keen to invest in a consumer start up that offers a high-bandwidth using service, which suggests that Pure Digital has big plans for Flip Video online – we reckon a new generation of Flip Video models with the ability to stream video instantly online could be on the cards. If Qik can do it with phones, it makes sense for a dedicated device like a Flip Video camcorder too.

We saw Cisco trying to move into the consumer electronics market in January with the announcement of the Cisco music streamer – Flip Video could be the next logical step.
