Time Capsule gets remote access in Apple update

March 6th, 2009

The previous generation Time Capsule, Apple’s wireless backup for Macs, has just been given remote access in an Apple update. Read on to find out what you can do with it.

Apple has just rolled out a new Time Capsule, but if you already own the old version of the Time Capsule, a new update means you’ll now be able to take advantage of remote online access that the new Time Capsule offers too.

As of today, old Time Capsule owners will be able to connect to the device’s built-in hard drive via Back to my Mac on Mobile Me, so you’ll be able to connect from anywhere with internet access.

The Time Capsule update also affects old Airport Express models, although it only fixes a few security holes for it rather than allowing you to make remote use of the USB port on the with an external hard drive.

How are you finding the Time Capsule update? Is remote access something you’ll use? Let us know in the comments below!
