Sharp has just unveiled a new Blu-ray DVR range, with top of the line BD-HDW40 packing a 1TB hard drive as well as Blu-ray recorder capability. It’s an astonishing all-in-one set-top box. Read on for all the details.
The newly announced Sharp Blu-ray DVR range includes four models, three of which, the HDW40, HDW35 and HDW32 pack two digital TV tuners, 1080p output, Blu-ray playback and recording with BD-Live, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio and compression to fit up to 30 hours of HD telly per Blu-ray disc.
If physical media isn’t your thing though, the Sharp Blu-ray DVR range also come with hard disks built in, starting at 320GB in the BD-HDS32 and going all the way up to an immense 1TB in the BD-HDW40. That’s enough to hold over 500 hours of full HD recordings!
The Sharp Blu-ray DVR range goes on sale on March 27, but sadly there’s one mighty large catch: the Sharp Blu-ray DVR series is Japan only.
We’ll let you know when Sharp hatches any European plans for its Blu-ray DVR range – in the meantime, be sure to check out our photo gallery of a Blu-ray recorder that actually is headed to Blighty, the Panasonic DMR-BS850. It packs everything the Sharp models do (albeit with slightly smaller hard drives) but adds Freesat tuners into the mix too!
