An OLED car has just been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. Farewell to tawdry tail lights and fugly foglamps, hello to indicators that’ll dazzle everyone else off the road!
We’ve seen OLED technology in TVs, cameras and possibly laptops, but cars? That’s new to us. EDAG has just unveiled the world’s first OLED car, the Light Car. The OLED car itself is electric, and covered in the next-gen display technology to make signaling and braking much more obvious.
The OLED car has the potential for much more though. EDAG says the OLED car is also the world’s first “open source car”, meaning developers will be able to come up with third party upgrades for its software. There could even be ways to send information between Light Cars: traffic alerts for those driving behind could be incredibly useful.
So, a prize to the first person who hacks iPlayer onto the car’s windscreen, and integrates Gmail with the dashboard. There are no interior shots of the OLED car sadly, and it is just a concept, but we’ll bring you more details as soon as we hear them.
