The HTC Magic was announced by UK-exclusive rights holder Vodafone as being due in April. The first proper confirmation of this has just arrived as the new Android phone has received its first official page on the Vodafone site. Check after the jump for a look and for news of a decidedly odd photo opportunity.
The HTC Magic – aka the Android G2 – now has an official page in the ‘coming soon’ section of the Vodafone Shop and is listed as “Arriving In April”. There is no pricing information up yet but you can register for updates if you want Vodafone to pester you as soon as more details emerge.
Specs-wise, the HTC Magic is listed as having a ’3.0-4.0 Megapixel camera’ (it is actually 3.2 megapixels) and 3.2″ touch screen and GPS navigation as well as the usual Bluetooth, GPRS and multimedia functions.
Weirdly, Vodafone haven’t used the word ‘Android ‘ anywhere in the HTC Magic’s specifications. Are they deliberately trying to distance themselves from the G1 or do they just not think that their customers will care?
In other – slightly random – HTC Magic news, HTC thought it would be a great idea to ask Californian Governer and unstoppable cyborg killer Arnold Schwarzenegger to pose with the new phone today at CeBit. We assume this is something to do with the Terminator being a sort of Android and.. well, you can see where the HTC PR people were going with it. Also, his massive hands make it look even more sleek and slimline so its win-win.
