Halo game designer wanted, is the rough translation of a new job advert from Microsoft for its internal Halo team. But what game would such a designer be working on?
Microsoft’s Game Studios Halo team have advertised for a: “strong Lead Designer to help develop a new experience in the Halo universe.” In case you’re thinking of seizing “your chance to contribute to one of the most exciting and creative properties in the entertainment industry”, be warned: “the ideal candidate is able to look across all design aspects of the game – core mechanics, UI, pacing, camera, balance, and provide the right solutions at the right time.” And you must have “shipped at least 2 AAA console games as a Lead Designer”. In other words, bedroom coders need not apply.
So what could the game be? Speculation runs from Halo 4 (although we would hope this would be a Bungie title) to yet another spin-off like the not-at-all-bad Halo Wars (for Microsoft Xbox 360) or upcoming Halo: Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. Or it could even be the long-awaited Peter Jackson Halo Chronicles. Either way, there’s more Halo on the way. As if you didn’t already know.
