We’ve already flagged up Dexter on iPhone as a game to keep an eye on. It’s the finger-friendly adaptation of Showtime’s serial killer thriller, and the latest screenshots show it looking fantastic, and frightening at the same time. See them all after the jump.

Newly released by Dexter on iPhone developers Marc Ecko Entertainment, they show the game’s 3D engine in full effect. Take a look. It looks fantastic, doesn’t it? But will it get Apple’s approval?

From the screenshots below, we can see Dexter on iPhone features knives, and gory murder scenes, just like the TV show. What’s more, the game will use the accelerometer to control on-screen movements. Is Dexter on iPhone about to become the world’s first stabbing simulator?

If so, it’s going to give Apple a headache. Will it approve such an adult-orientated game? It’s only just come to terms with fart gags, after all. If Apple bites the bullet, Dexter on iPhone could push iPhone gaming from simple pastime to a serious adult platform, but at what cost?

It’s a battle Nintendo has faced in the past, before relenting and allowing the likes of Manhunt 2 on the otherwise family-friendly Wii, and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the DS.

What do you think? Will Dexter on iPhone kickstart a wave of adult games on Apple devices? Shout, scream, rant and rave below.

Out 2009 | £TBC | Marc Ecko Entertainment
