The Sony BDP-S560 is heading Sony’s new line of Blu-ray players just unveiled, and it comes with Wi-Fi built-in, as well as all the latest software for just £250. Looks like high definition is becoming reasonably affordable at last! All the details on Sony’s new Blu-ray range after the break.
Skip back two years and Sony’s top Blu-ray players would have set you back a cool grand: now the Sony BDP-S560 Blu-ray player comes in at just $350, or £250 in proper money. That’s not to say the Sony BDP-S560 has skimped on the features though, as it’s Wi-Fi enabled and BD-Live friendly.
The Sony BDP-S560 is even DLNA certified, so it’ll hook up to other devices round the house and let you stream songs and videos direct to the telly. There’s also crazy codec support, with every major new format, including Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD catered for.
Aside from the Sony BDP-S560, Sony has three other Blu-ray models on show: the cheaper ($300) BDP-S360 without Wi-Fi, and two Blu-ray home theatre systems, the 5.1 BDV-E300 and BDV-E500W systems, the latter of which uses Sony’s S-AIR tech to stream audio to surround sound speakers wirelessly. We’re chasing final UK pricing and release dates so we’ll keep you posted.

” Looks like high definition is becoming reasonably affordable at last!”
??? There have been plenty of oppertunities to pick up a PS3 for £250, and it’s infinately better value for money than this player, and likely to be a better performer too (certainly in BD-J, but also likely to be a better DVD upscaler and have better Blu-ray output too)
It won’t stream video wirelessly. Beware!
It will only stream photos!
