As well as releasing the long-awaited update to the Mac Mini, Apple has updated the iMac today, cramming in the latest Nvidia graphics and lowering the price for the 24 inch version.
From the outside, the new iMac looks a lot like the old one, but inside are Nvidia’s latest graphics chips to make them zip through games, power through movies and make them ready for Snow Leopard too.
There are four basic versions of the new iMac. The 20 inch and cheapest 24 inch now come with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M chips inside, while pricier models pack the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120.
All but the cheapest 20 inch iMac now come with 4GB of memory as standard too, while the base model has 2GB.
Hard drives range from 320GB all the way to a whopping 1TB, but the best news is the price. The 20 inch iMac now costs £949, while the 24 inch version starts at £1,199. The “ultimate” iMac configuration packs in all of the above for £1,799.
