The N97 has popped up for pre-order online, but the price currently quoted by third party retailers is “outrageous”, according to Nokia. It looks like we’ll be getting the Nokia N97 a lot cheaper than we’d hoped. Details on the Nokia N97 price war after the jump!
We’ve come to know and love Expansys as the early source for mobile prices and specs, but if you were planning to pick up the Nokia N97 SIM-free through the online store, you might want to hold back: a Nokia insider says the £689.99 pricetag for the Nokia N97 is “outrageous”, while the supposed release date of June 23rd is wrong too. That would suggest that Play.com‘s £650 pricing might be wide of the mark too.
The source was anonymous, admittedly, but it definitely came from inside Nokia and we’re prepared to take this at face value: why would Nokia get our hopes up if the Nokia N97 wasn’t going to be cheaper? There is a recession on after all.
We already know the Nokia N97, Nokia’s first touchscreen Nseries phone, will be shipping in June, but now we’re even more excited – we’ll fill you in on the Nokia N97′s true price as soon as it’s confirmed.
