Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost And Damned, the new GTA download expansion pack for the Microsoft Xbox 360 has set a world record for downloaded content.

According to a Microsoft press release, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost And Damned was already the “highest reviewed downloadable content ever”, while Grand Theft Auto IV itself was “the biggest entertainment launch in history”. But now the downloadable expansion The Lost And Damned has also “eclipsed first-day revenue for all previous downloadable content on Xbox Live”.

It’s hardly surprising really that Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost And Damned has scaled new heights of hits for downloadable content. And, come to think of it, given that Microsoft has got the exclusive rights for Grand Theft Auto IV add-ons, then it’s hardly surprising they’re making a big thing of it.

Still, despite the rolling hype machine, we can’t help but admit we’re big fans of Grand Theft Auto IV and The Lost And Damned. It’s added a new story to Liberty City, and a new grungy (and semi-tumescent) angle. In other words, hail to The Lost And Damned (and PS3 owners gnash your teeth and wail about now).
