The Eee Box 206, Asus‘s tiny book-sized computer, and the closest the PC world has to a Mac Mini has hit the UK. The Eee Box 206 is the newest version of the Eee Box, sporting a HDMI port to hook it up to a HDTV. Specs after the jump!
Inside the Eee Box 206 there’s an Intel Atom processor, 160GB of hard disk, 1GB of RAM and Windows XP so Vista won’t slow things down. But the Eee Box 206′s USP is a HDMI port and Eee Cinema software installed, plus a remote control, so you can use it as a media centre in the living room.
Not only that, but because the Eee Box 206 is so tiny, it’s a powersaver too. Asus reckons it’ll save owners who leave their computers on around the clock £105 a year.
When you consider that a Mac Mini costs almost a third more, the HD-ready Eee Box 206 seems like a corker, so long as you don’t fancy trying to run high end games on it. We’ll be chasing Asus for a hands-on so watch out for that very soon.
