Sales of the BlackBerry Bold powerhouse email mobile have been stopped in Japan after complaints of keypads overheating. Somebody sending too many emails? All the details after the jump.

Not counting the BlackBerry Storm, the BlackBerry Bold is RIM‘s flagship phone, but it’s had to be shelved in the country after around 30 owners complained that their BlackBerry Bold keypads overheated during charging.

There are no reports of explosions like the laptop battery scare a few years ago, and RIM says the problem affects Japanese BlackBerry Bold handsets only.

The move is a blow to RIM, as the BlackBerry Bold had only just gone on sale in the country, but it hopes to get plenty more people addicted once it’s figured out the how to stop the problem.

RIM has ruled out the BlackBerry Bold battery but otherwise the cause is unknown. Here’s our solution though: make the BlackBerry Bold out of ice from now on. That should keep it cool.
