Zeemote – the Bluetooth game controller for mobile games – is finally to be available as a stand-alone product rather than part of a mobile gaming bundle.

The Zeemote looks a lot like the ‘nunchuck’ attachment for Nintendo’s WiiMote, apart from the fact that it is wireless and capable of controlling a game without being attached to the end of a motion-sensing remote control.

Although there are an ever-growing number of quality mobile games, actually controlling them can be frustrating. Tiny keypads and stupidly placed joysticks make it all too easy for a scoreboard-shattering run on a game to be cut short by a careless thumb landing on the wrong button. The makers of the Zeemote hope to put a stop to such gaming disasters by separating the controls from th edisplay.

The Zeemote uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone. Nokia S60 3rd edition handsets are the most widely supported, but some phones by Samsing, Motorola and otehrs get a look in too. It is for the N-Gage platform that Zeemote really comes into its own, though, with a growing library of supported games.

Zeemote have until now bundled their controller with accompanying Nokia N-Gage phones and a selection of games. Now though, the Zeemote has been freed and you can buy one to ue with your existing phone. It might loook a bit daft on the bus, but perhaps not as daft as the face you pull when you accidentally quit Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart seconds before an epic win.
