UPDATE: We’ve just been slipped some pricing details for the DMR-BS850. Want to know how much the fantastic set-top box will cost? All the details here.

The Panasonic DMR-BS850 just fell into our grasp – it’s the first Freesat receiver that’ll also record to Blu-Ray and its built in hard drive. We’re absolutely besotted with it, and you will be too once you’ve clapped eyes on our hands-on photos!

The DMR-BS850 packs in a 500GB hard drive, a Blu-Ray recorder and two Freesat tuners. It’ll pause and rewind live TV, record shows to the hard drive for you to watch later, or burn to Blu-Ray to keep forever. But that’s not all.

There’s also a USB socket on the front of the DMR-BS850, and an SD card slot, so any HD footage you have from a computer or camcorder can be burned to Blu-Ray without trailing cables. The whole shebang records in full HD of course (although Freesat is actually 1080i, rather than 1080p if you’re being picky), and if all that doesn’t fill your credit card with longing, it has Viera Cast inside too, so it’ll stream video from networked PCs or the web.

Gorge your eyes on the DMR-BS850 below. We think you’ll agree, it’s shaping up to be a stunning all-in-one entertainment box.

A grand for an awesome piece of kit and they still can’t afford to upgrade the ugly remote, you’d think they’d be handing out touch screen remotes by now no? So if I don’t leave for the house for ummm… about a year then I can have one sweet!
