The iTunes Pass, a brand subscription scheme for iTunes, has just been launched by Apple, and the first band using it is none other than, er, Depeche Mode.
The iTunes Pass is a little like the season passes for TV series on iTunes: sign up, and anything Depeche Mode drops on iTunes between now and the strangely specific date of June 16, including new album Sounds Of The Universe, will be yours for an upfront sum of $19 – as well as a bonus track that people paying the plebby way won’t be able to download.
Unfortunately, iTunes Pass content won’t be DRM free, but it’s a great way to keep up with your favourite bands, and it’ll be interesting to see which bands offer iTunes Pass next.
We’re still chasing UK pricing and availability for iTunes Pass, but how does it sound to you? Value for money? Would you want a longer iTunes Pass period? Scribble down your thoughts in the comments below.
